Una beca / A grant

No he querido hacerlo público porque no era oficial. Pero ya lo es.

¡ Me han concedido una beca!.

Todo empezó en Abril. Fui a la FREMM (Federación Regional de Empresarios del Metal de Murcia) al II Foro de la Competitividad en la Industrial Metal-Mecánica. Unas conferencias, durante una tarde, en la sede de dicha Federación.
En la sede vi un folleto que me llamó la atención. Vigaceros, a través de la FREMM y mi universidad, sacaba a concurso una beca para la realización de un proyecto fin de carrera.

En Mayo presenté mi propuesta. Una idea. Y en Septiembre me contestaron. La idea había gustado.
Así que, el Martes pasado, hubo un pequeño acto en el Rectorado para la entrega de la beca.

Ahora me va a tocar trabajar mucho. Tengo un año para desarrollar una aplicación informática que calcule instalaciones de distribución de aire comprimido. Estoy contento, pero también asustado. No sé por dónde voy a empezar.

I have obtained a grant!

The story started in April. I went to FREMM (Federación Regional de Empresarios del Metal de Murcia / Regional Federation of Metal Businessmen of Murcia – I am not sure if this translation is correct) to the II Forum about the Competitivity in the Metal-Mechanic Industry.

Into the head office I saw a pamphlet . Vigaceros, with the FREMM and my university, offered a grant to do a Final Degree Project.

In May I write my proposal. An idea. And in September they phoned me. They had like the idea.

So, the last Tuesday, they gave me the grant.

Now I will have to work hard. I have some months to developing a software to calculating air-pressured installations. I am very happy, and afraid. I do not know where I can start. I wish everything goes well.

Sobre la densidad de los metales / About the density of metals

En la naturaleza encontramos elementos metálicos con densidades muy variadas. Algunos, como el Iridio y el Osmio, poseen densidades del orden de los 22600 kg/m³. Otros, como el Litio, de tan solo 535 kg/m³.

Google me corrige/Google corrects me

Estaba viendo las estadísticas de mi blog. Concretamente las palabras clave que usan los usuarios en los buscadores, y que les hacen terminar en este blog.

Una de ellas era "la pelicula porno de FARI JILTON". Tal cual, como suena. El caso es que pienso ¿En que parte de mi blog hablo de películas para adultos y de Fari Jilton (en todo caso Paris Hilton).

Buscando en Google me doy cuenta de un error del buscador: si escribimos Jilton nos da unos resultados normales. Pero si escribo "Fari Jilton", Google se empeña en corregirme y buscar "Fari Hilton". Por si algo cambiara en las próxima horas, os dejo esta captura de pantalla que he tomado.

A keyword was "la pelicula porno de FARI JILTON" ("The Fari Jilton porn movie"). Yes, like this.
I thought, Where, in my blog, I speak about adult movies and Fari Hilton? (It could be Paris Hilton, but not Fari Jilton).

Looking for in Google I found an error: If we write "jilton", everything works correctly. So, if we write "Fari Jilton", google changes the word. He looks for "Fari Hilton". This is an image.

Presión de neumáticos / Tyre (tire) pressure

Hace dos semanas estuve en La Manga en un curso de Kitesurf.
Al volver en el coche nos percatamos de que un neumático tenía poca presión. Paramos en una gasolinera para hincharlo. Según el fabricante, la presión de las ruedas traseras era mayor que las delanteras.

Hinchamos las ruedas y proseguimos el viaje. Pero a mi me quedó la duda. ¿Porqué más presión en las ruedas traseras? La solución vino en forma de explicación de mi profesor de Diseño de Máquinas.

El eje delantero y trasero del coche soportan el peso del vehículo.

Cuando el coche está en movimiento, aparece una fuerza: la resistencia del aire.
Esta fuerza tiende a "girar" el vehículo. Entonces las ruedas traseras soportan la mayor parte del peso, y las delanteras un peso menor.

Si cargamos excesivamente el maletero, el centro de gravedad se desplaza hacia atrás aumentando la diferencia.

Two weeks ago I was in La Manga in a Kitesurf course.
When we were going to come back, we saw the wheels. They were without pressure. We stopped at a petrol station. According to the manufacturer information, the front wheels have less air pressure than the back ones.

We solved the problem and we continued driving. But I were thinking about that. Why a different pressure?. The answer came to me in a Machine Designing class.

In a car, the two axis hold up the weight. (image 1)

When you are driving, a power appears: the drag. This power is trying to "turn" the vehicle. Then, the back wheels are holding up more weight.(image2)

So, if we fill the boot/trunk, the center of gravity goes back. And the difference grows.
